Academic counselor

I am a proud academic counselor at Dr. Maya Angelou Community High School. I started working at MACHS since Fall of 2014 after receiving a master's in school of counseling from California State University of Los Angeles. As an LAUSD alumni, I encountered many counselors who made me fall in love with the profession. Thus, after graduating from UCLA with a BS in Sociology and minor in Education and Chicano Studies, I decided to pursue a career in counseling which allowed me to work with communities similar to mine.

I am here to support our students in various ways; as an academic counselor I aim to educate all my students on graduation/college requirements. Remember, D is for diploma and C is for college!

Throughout my years at MACHS, I have learned that strong partnerships with students and their families are key in creating a safe and meaningful high school environment. I thank our parents and students for trusting in us to guide our students in their high school experience.

Please do not hesitate to reach out via email or Schoology. I, along with the rest of the counseling team, are here to continue supporting you and your families.
